SDR Portugal Strengthens Collection Network and Opens Volta Kiosk in Cascais

November 7, 2026

SDR Portugal will inaugurate, on November 9, at 10:00 a.m., a new Volta Kiosk in the municipality of Cascais, located at 2 Rua Conde Monte Real, 2750-440 Cascais. The initiative, promoted in partnership with the Cascais City Council, marks another step in strengthening the collection network of the Deposit and Refund System (SDR) and in expanding the solutions available for returning single-use beverage packaging, according to a press release.

According to the same source, the event will be attended by Leonardo Mathias, President of SDR Portugal, and Luís Capão, Vice-President of the Cascais City Council, including brief institutional remarks and a demonstration of how the Volta Kiosk works.

With the commissioning of this equipment, the collection network will count eight Volta Kiosks in operation, as part of an expansion plan that foresees the installation of 50 Volta Kiosks in 38 Portuguese municipalities.

The Volta system has more than 3,000 collection points nationwide, through which citizens have already returned more than 540 million beverage containers. This infrastructure includes automatic Volta Points in supermarkets and hypermarkets, manual Volta Points, and Volta Kiosks, designed to facilitate the return of large quantities of packaging. With a capacity to collect around 120 containers per minute, these devices constitute a particularly relevant solution for establishments in the HORECA sector, while remaining available to all citizens.
