NIGERIA: More AIDS treatments sites planned
Nigeria has announced plans to increase the number of anti-AIDS treatment sites from the current 25 to 100.
According to the government's online new service, Nigeria First, Health Minister Eyitayo Lambo expects the additional sites to provide greater access to antiretroviral drugs and improve the health of people living with HIV/AIDS.
Lambo noted that Nigeria had "unparalleled" accessibility to AIDS drugs in Africa, and local production of anti-AIDS medicines for children had already begun.
An estimated 13,000 people are receiving treatment at the existing sites.
