LESOTHO: British royal concerned about AIDS orphans

Britain's Prince Harry is on a visit in Lesotho to witness the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic on the country.

The prince accompanied a doctor on visits to the homes of people living with HIV/AIDS and also to a rural orphanage, in a bid to publicise the plight of children affected by the pandemic.

Some 31 percent of the small mountain kingdom's population of just over 2 million are living with HIV/AIDS.

The World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Thursday that Lesotho would need international assistance for a third consecutive year due to the combined impact of the worsening HIV/AIDS epidemic and drought.
