Cantanhede Secures €1.25M in EU Funds to Invest in the Waste Sector

July 1, 2026

The municipal company Inova, based in Cantanhede, in the Coimbra district, secured, through EU funding, €1.25 million in support through applications in the waste sector, enabling it to carry out structuring investments.

In a press release, the company highlights, among the approved projects, the remodeling of the water supply network and service connections in the metering zone and Tocha, the remodeling of the domestic wastewater drainage network for Vilamar and Corticeiro de Cima, and the acquisition of an electric vehicle for the collection of bio-waste.

For the chair of the board of Inova, Pedro Cardoso, “these results demonstrate the municipal company’s ability to identify financing opportunities, submit competitive applications, and transform the support obtained into investments that directly benefit the residents.”

“The municipal company still has two applications in the submission phase, reinforcing its strategy of attracting external financing,” added the executive.

Pedro Cardoso notes that that effort “is fundamental to increasing Inova’s investment capacity, allowing the realization of relevant projects without overburdening the company’s own resources and ensuring an increasingly effective response to the population’s needs.”

“Investment continues to be at the top of the priorities, alongside the positive financial results and customer satisfaction, aiming to surpass the historical levels of the previous year, which is highly relevant as it covers strategic areas such as water supply, wastewater management, urban waste management and street cleaning,” he concluded.
