The Automóvel Club of Portugal has revealed the four winning models in the competition categories for the 2026 edition of the ACP Electric Car of the Year. The Mercedes-Benz CLA, the Audi A6 e-tron, the Citroën ë-C3, and the Jeep Compass EV were the participants’ favourites in the Family, Premium, City Cars/Utility Vehicles, and SUV/Crossover categories, respectively, according to a press release.
According to the same source, dedicated exclusively to 100% electric cars, the competition invited Portuguese people to choose their preferred models from six candidates in each category, representing different segments and usage needs.
In the Family category, the most voted model was the Mercedes-Benz CLA, notable for its long range, ultra-fast charging capability, and the blend of efficiency, performance, and technology.
The Audi A6 e-tron won the Premium category, standing out for its build quality, performance, interior space, and a range suitable for long-distance travel.
Among the City Cars/Utility Vehicles, the participants’ preference fell on the Citroën ë-C3, a car designed for urban use that combines comfort, practicality and everyday efficiency.
The Jeep Compass EV was chosen as the best SUV/Crossover, distinguished by its rugged design, interior space, driver-assistance technologies and a range that can reach up to 650 kilometres.
With the winners of the four categories now decided, the announcement of the model that will receive the ACP Electric Car of the Year 2026 title follows, scheduled for September 4.
Organized by the Automóvel Club of Portugal since 2023, the ACP Electric Car of the Year aims to bring consumers closer to electric mobility and give them a voice in choosing the models that best respond to different usage needs.
