A SEMENTE – Lipor Volunteers Association, within the framework of PreZero’s SOMA-TE Program, developed the project “Renascer das Cinzas” to support communities affected by the 2024 fires that devastated the rest of the country and the Greater Porto region. The Project also plans to develop initiatives for the prevention of future disasters caused by fires, through awareness, information and community involvement, as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, it was in this context that the initiative “Bombeiro Super-Herói” was born, developed in close collaboration with regional fire brigades, with the aim of bringing these professionals closer to the community and, at the same time, promoting awareness and prevention actions.
On October 9, SEMENTE organized an event dedicated to the role of the firefighter in the community, gathering representatives from the three corps under the jurisdiction of LIPOR — the Volunteer Firefighters Corps of Areosa-Rio Tinto, the Volunteer Firefighters Corps of Ermesinde, and the Volunteer Firefighters Corps of Moreira da Maia.
Throughout the session, experiences, difficulties and lived experiences of Superhero Firefighters were shared.
As a form of recognition for the daily work carried out by the corps, donations totaling 1,000 euros were presented to each of the three participating corps.
With this initiative, SEMENTE aims to contribute to a more informed, participatory and resilient society, valuing and supporting those who stand on the front line in protecting the community in the fight against fires and in responding to emergencies.
