When Yona, 12, went to live with his grandmother after his parents died several years ago, she told the neighbours he was HIV-positive, hoping he would get some sympathy. Instead, the boy found himself ridiculed and alienated from his playmates.

1. Children and AIDS: Fifth Stocktaking Report
The report, produced by UNICEF, in partnership with UNAIDS, WHO, UNFPA, and UNESCO is an annual report that examines data on progress, emerging evidence, case studies of best practices and current knowledge and practice for children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

2. African Same-Sex Sexualities and Gender Diversity, Feb 13 - 16 2011
An initiative of organisations including OXFAM, the United Nations Development Programme and the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya, the conference seeks to identify and celebrate same-sex practices and communities and, in part, identify whether these communities are being adequately addressed by HIV/AIDS programming.
