Events/Resources

1. Teachers Matter: Baseline Findings on The HIV-related needs of Kenyan Teachers

Most school-based HIV interventions in sub-Saharan Africa rely on teachers as behavior formation and behavior-change agents to deliver prevention messages to children. Few target teachers as the direct beneficiaries even though teachers themselves are at risk of HIV infection. There is therefore an urgent need to understand the dynamics of risk-taking behavior among this population in order to develop appropriate interventions. This is particularly crucial in Kenya because teachers represent the country’s single largest workforce, comprising 240,000 professionals.

2. Registration deadline for World Conference on Lung Health, 19 October

With a theme of "Confronting the challenges of HIV and MDR in TB prevention and care." the 8 to 12 Nov. Cape Town conference seeks to address constraints to effective prevention and care while taking into consideration broader political economy and sectoral issues.
