ANGOLA: TB threatens both workers and patients at Luanda Hospital
Luanda Sanatorium Hospital, which has a reputation as being Angola's leading tuberculosis (TB) treatment centre, should be a place of relief and recovery for patients with the disease in the capital, Luanda. But with a lack of protective materials for healthcare workers and crumbling infrastructure, the hospital has become a dangerous breeding ground for TB, infecting both staff and patients.

He is only a teenager, but he is already a seasoned border jumper. Dressed in a torn t-shirt and blue work trousers, Robert, 16, (not his real name) told IRIN/PlusNews he had crossed the border from Zimbabwe four times since he first decided to come to South Africa in January this year.

1. Community Health and HIV/AIDS Coordinator, GOAL, Juba, SudanResponsibilities
- Plan and manage health promotion and disease prevention components in southern Sudan
- Directly manage the Community Health and HIV/AIDS team
- Travel frequently to areas of operation to supervise and coach community health officers
- Develop educational materials appropriate to target groups and locations
- Manage condom and other prevention/promotion supplies
- Manage the community health programme budget
- Input into community health programme planning and proposal writing as required
- Coordinate with health sector UN agencies and NGOs at Juba, State and local levels.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development or other relevant field
- Two years experience working in community health in a humanitarian agency
- Strong interpersonal and people management skills and experience
- Proven training and capacity building skills
- Effective problem analysis and problem solving skills
- Willingness to travel to underdeveloped/volatile areas of South Sudan

- Finalise and review whenever Alliance strategy, identifying and communicating opportunities for engagement
- Plan, lead and fundraise for regional missions
- Develop and/or review strategy/funding concept notes
- Lead annual planning and budgeting processes.
- Follow all designated reporting schedules, adhering to deadlines
- Review contracts for technical support providers.
- Set quarterly performance objectives for country-based Alliance staff
- Conduct weekly check-ins with country-based staff and produce feedback
Requirements
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in strategic planning
- A background in monitoring and evaluation
- Management experience
- The ability to be diplomatic under stressful conditions is essential
