Digitization and artificial intelligence are redefining how waste is classified, monitored, and valued, paving the way for more efficient, sustainable, and data-driven processes.
Against this backdrop, LIPOR, Sogama, the University of A Coruña, and the University of Beira Interior promote the webinar “Application of Intelligent Digitization Technologies in Waste Classification – Lessons Learned,” on July 9, an initiative that will bring together specialists, waste management entities, universities, and technology companies from Portugal and Spain to share experiences and present innovative solutions for the sector, according to a press release.
According to the same source, the event will focus on the lessons learned so far within the framework of the GRESINT project, namely the implementation of intelligent technologies applied to waste classification. In addition to presenting the project, the program includes interventions by specialists in data governance, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation, providing a comprehensive view of the trends that are shaping the future of the circular economy.
Among the highlighted topics will be data quality and governance, the application of artificial intelligence to the characterization and classification of waste, as well as concrete examples of digital transformation developed by technology companies that are accelerating innovation in the sector.
The webinar will feature the participation of SOGAMA and LIPOR in the opening session, followed by the presentation of the GRESINT project by the University of A Coruña (UDC) and the University of Beira Interior (UBI).
The program also includes an intervention by Fernando Gualo, Executive Director of CISA and a certified Data Management (CDMP) professional, devoted to the fundamentals of data quality and governance, a presentation by Greyparrot, an international reference in applying artificial intelligence to waste characterization, and a session by Inovalabs Digital dedicated to intelligent monitoring for a more efficient operation.
