A Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua promotes, on Thursday, February 19, at 11:30 a.m., at the Abegoaria do Parque da Pena, the meeting “Sintra Resiliente”, a session of sharing and exchanging ideas with the Association of Quinta Owners in the Serra de Sintra and local stakeholders, focused on the consequences of the recent weeks’ storms and on possible solutions to reinforce the landscape’s resilience, according to a statement.
According to the same source, the initiative aims to create a territory-driven dialogue space, allowing to identify problems on the ground, collect inputs, and build collaborative responses. At the meeting, Parques de Sintra will present the set of measures it has been developing to ensure safety, mitigate impacts, and support the Serra’s recovery, framing this work in its Strategic Plan, with emphasis on the axes of climate resilience and biodiversity, safeguarding the Cultural Landscape (UNESCO), local partnerships, innovation and sustainability.
During the session, the document “Guide to Tree Planting (Reinforcement and Recovery of Gardens After Storms) — Planting trees is an act of environmental responsibility and a commitment to future generations” will be made available to participants, with practical guidelines designed to support informed decisions and to avoid precipitate solutions that could further weaken ecosystems.
“What has happened in the last weeks reminds us that the Serra is a living and interdependent system. The response cannot be merely reactive; it must be collaborative, technically informed and oriented toward resilience,” emphasizes João Sousa Rego, chairman of the Board of Directors of Parques de Sintra, who will open the session.
