GAMBIA: WHO donates CD4 testing equipment

Anti-AIDS efforts in Gambia have been bolstered by a World Health Organisation donation of CD4 monitoring equipment to help measure the immunity of people living with the HI virus.

Gambian Secretary of State for Health Dr Tamsir Mbowe welcomed the contribution as a timely intervention for strengthening the government's existing AIDS management strategies.

Mbowe noted the importance of the equipment in accurately detecting HIV and monitoring the progress of people using antiretroviral drugs.

He told the local Independent newspaper, "The primary aim of the government is to ensure that everybody in the country achieves good health."
