TANZANIA: Italian cash injection for HIV/AIDS
Tanzania's National AIDS Control Programme is to benefit from more than US $2 million pledged by Italy over the weekend, local Guardian newspaper reported.
Speaking in the capital Dar es Salaam on Saturday, Italian ambassador to Tanzania, Marcello Griccioli, said the funds were earmarked for health care programmes in both mainland Tanzania and its island of Zanzibar.
The funds, which would boost AIDS awareness and health care for HIV-positive people, would be jointly monitored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tanzania's Ministry of Health.
