NIGERIA: Boost in sex education urged

Nigeria's National Action Committee on HIV/AIDS (NACA) has called for a greater focus on sex education in the fight against the pandemic.

Addressing a recent forum of local AIDS organisations in the capital, Abuja, NACA chairman Prof Babatunde Osotimehin said the government wanted to delay the sexual debut of young people.

"It [the government's framework] also encourages mutual fidelity and consistent condom use among sexually active people," the local Daily Champion newspaper quoted Osotimehin as saying.
