SWAZILAND: Some progress made - Lewis

The UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, Stephen Lewis this week commended the progress made in Swaziland's fight against HIV/AIDS.

"The country has made a remarkable change, especially with regards to the treatment of people," Lewis told the staff of all UN missions working in Mbabane.

He praised the UN agencies for bringing AIDS interventions to rural areas, where most Swazis reside. Progress made assisting orphans and vulnerable children since his last trip was also impressive, Lewis said.

Lewis met with King Mswati, and told reporters he had "a frank discussion" about Swaziland’s international image with the king.
