MOZAMBIQUE: Govt urges anti-AIDS/food security action

A senior Mozambican official has called for intensified measures to tackle food insecurity, HIV/AIDS and poverty in southern Africa.

Speaking at the closing session of a seminar on Food and Nutritional Security in the capital Maputo on Friday, deputy agriculture minister Caterina Pajume, said that only by addressing the triple threat could sustainable social and economic development be achieved in the region.

According to the Angolan news agency, ANGOP, Pajume noted that the fight against poverty, hunger and the HIV/AIDS epidemic, could only be won through close alliances involving the government and other role players.
