MOZAMBIQUE: Police force feel weight of AIDS-related deaths
Mozambican Deputy Interior Minister Jose Mandra says HIV/AIDS is aggravating staff shortages in the ranks of the police, killing just over 1,000 officers every year.
The local news agency, AIM, quoted Mandra as saying: "In terms of quantity and quality, we are going through difficult moments, with the number of infections and deaths by HIV/AIDS increasing by the day."
He urged the implementation of strengthened awareness strategies to encourage a change in sexual behaviour.
