LESOTHO: Clinton inaugurates AIDS clinic for kids
Former US President Bill Clinton dedicated a new paediatric HIV/AIDS clinic at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Lesotho's capital, Maseru, on Monday.
He is visiting the tiny mountain kingdom as part of a week-long, six-nation African tour aimed at increasing the number of HIV-positive children receiving treatment from less than 100 at present to at least 750 by the end of this year.
In a statement Clinton said, "I am very honoured to formally open this clinic ... Lesotho is helping to prove that paediatric anti-AIDS treatment is indeed possible in the developing world."
Lesotho has successfully enrolled several thousand people on antiretroviral treatment with the assistance of the Clinton Foundation.
