ZAMBIA: Company educates public on HIV/AIDS

A Zambian firm, Asset Holding Company-Municipal Mining Services (AHC-MMS), is educating thousands of local people on how to deal with the impact of HIV/AIDS.

AHC-MMS public relations officer Grace Mikunga said the programme initially planned to reach 1,900 people, but an "overwhelming public response" had resulted in 9,000 being educated.

She told the Zambia News Agency that programme participants would in turn encourage HIV testing and condom use, and speak out against AIDS discrimination.

An estimated two million Zambians are currently living with the virus.
