ZAMBIA: HIV-positive people advice AIDS training initiative
The World Health Organisation (WHO) and Zambia's Central Board of Health have embarked on a joint initiative to train health workers in HIV/AIDS care and management, as part of the national antiretroviral treatment plan.
WHO's Zambia AIDS advisor, Dr Kanyanta Sunkutu, told a local newspaper, The Times of Zambia, that people living with HIV and AIDS would be included in training sessions, as they were better suited to offer "practical solutions" on how best to deal with infected people.
An estimated 16 percent of Zambians aged between 15 and 49 are living with the HI virus.
