LESOTHO: HIV testing centre operational by April
Lesotho's Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has announced that the country's first three universal HIV/AIDS testing centres will only be operational by the end of April.
Health Minister Motloheloa Phooko told the UN news service, PlusNews, that in the meantime eight clinics for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV would provide testing services.
The government also aims to draw up a cost-effective plan that provides cheaper antiretroviral drugs to people living with HIV/AIDS in three months' time.
"By June, we will have an idea of what the situation is on the ground. We would have spoken to all the pharmaceutical companies and other role-players," Phooko said.
