LESOTHO: Prime Minister publicly tested for HIV

Lesotho's Prime Minister, Pakalitha Mosisili, has been publicly tested for HIV in the hope that more people will be encouraged to go for voluntary testing and counselling.

Research shows that almost one-third of the country's adult population is living with HIV/AIDS.

Thabang Motsoasele, the director of information in the prime minister's office, told Reuters that Mosisili had taken the test to show that "there is nothing to fear about testing for HIV/AIDS", and had urged other African leaders to follow suit.
