GHANA: Brewery launches workplace AIDS programme

Ghana Breweries Limited (GBL) has opposed HIV testing for staff as a condition of employment, the local newspaper Accra Mail reported on Thursday.

"GBL affirms that an employee's HIV status should not affect his or her job security, terms of employment, redeployment or any other social rights," GBL managing director, Segun Adebanji, said.

As part of its "Human Resources Investment Project", GBL launched its first workplace HIV/AIDS programme earlier this week.

Adebanji said GBL had made every effort to eradicate discrimination against HIV-positive workers within the company.
