NIGERIA: New government/private sector partnership

Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo at the weekend said a recent partnership between the government and the private sector would raise awareness in corporate Nigeria about the impact of HIV/AIDS.

"HIV/AIDS is threatening the fabric of our society and our economy. We must move against this deadly epidemic together," local newspaper This Day quoted Obasanjo as saying.

Obasanjo said the partnership would provide a platform for joint decisions and action to combat HIV/AIDS.

He urged the private sector to support the government's efforts to combat the pandemic, not just by donating funds, but also by providing expertise.
