NAMIBIA: HIV/AIDS group plans to expand
A Windhoek-based HIV/AIDS NGO, Lirongo Eparu on Tuesday said it plans to set up counselling office in all of Namibia's 13 regions.
"The aim of these offices will be to provide counselling to people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as to set up income-generating projects to create self employment," local newspaper The Namibian quoted the organisation's administration officer, Connie Samaria, as saying.
Samaria said Lirongo Eparu also provides counselling and home-based care for HIV-positive people and attempts to improve the diets of its members through providing soup kitchens.
The organisation said it received a boost late last year of about US $8,000 from UNAIDS to set up a brick-making project to provide employment for local residents living with HIV/AIDS.
