The LUSITANO Project, which brings together 17 partners and encompasses a total investment of €111.5 million, will be among the agendas featured at the 3rd Meeting of Mobilizing Agendas, organized by IAPMEI, according to a press release.
According to the same source, new yarns and fabrics produced from recycled and natural materials, such as linen and hemp, and the latest fashion collections created with these materials—resulting from research and investments carried out by companies such as Calvelex, Polopiqué, Paulo de Oliveira, Riopele, and Twintex—will be highlighted at this exhibition.
The LUSITANO Project will also showcase the new technologies developed by companies and entities within the science and technology system associated with the project, namely smart labels for traceability throughout the production process and systems that enable water treatment and reuse, which contribute to strengthening the sustainability of the textile and clothing industry.
The developed prototypes can be visited on the morning of June 25, from 10:30 a.m., at Europarque in Santa Maria da Feira, with researchers and company representatives available to provide further clarification.
“In recent years, the partners of LUSITANO have sought to develop new textile and apparel products that respond to the market’s current needs and that will contribute to the international competitiveness of the Portuguese textile and apparel industry,” said Luís Hall Figueiredo, president of CENIT, which is part of the Lusitano Project. “This is an opportunity to showcase the results of this effort to a broader audience and to demonstrate that, although these are traditional sectors, the textile and apparel industries currently incorporate a great deal of innovation,” he added.
