The Portuguese Association of Bioenergy Producers approved the entry, in the capacity of new full promoter members, of three national biomethane-producing companies: FERBGÁS Renováveis (ferbgas.com), Hyperion Renewables (hyperionrenewables.com) and Prado Energia (prado-energia.pt), as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, in accordance with Jaime Braga, secretary-general of the association that brings together the main national bioenergy producers: “This triple entry of new member companies producing biomethane demonstrates the recognition, by these entities, of the role that APPB has played on several fronts, with the aim of accelerating and making real the biomethane market and finally putting into practice the so-called Biomethane Action Plan 2024-2040 (PAB).” “We are very pleased to be able to count, from now on, on the participation of three players of great relevance in the sector and which further broaden APPB’s representativeness in defending the interests of national bioenergy producers and, in this particular case, of biomethane,” adds Jaime Braga.
Likewise, the APPB also approved the entry, as a partner-member, of the law firm Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Morais da Silva & Associados, an inclusion that also reflects the importance of bioenergy beyond the sphere of producing companies, thereby integrating APPB as a stakeholder in the legal field.
Recall that, recently, the APPB defined as its main priorities for 2026 the defense of the interests of national bioenergy producers around the proper transposition into Portuguese law of the Renewable Energy Directive (known as RED III) and, also, the effective implementation of the national plan for the creation of the biomethane market, aiming to reduce dependence on gas and the associated costs in critical sectors of the industry, with emphasis on ceramics and glass.
The Portuguese Association of Bioenergy Producers thus becomes, from now on, part of Biovegetal, Fábrica Torrejana, FERBGÁS Renováveis, Hyperion Renewables, Grupo Floene, Prado Energia, Rega Energy and Sovena, a list to which Morais Leitão also belongs.
