Health Innovation Award – All for Sustainability: Applications Close June 30

June 25, 2026

The countdown for submitting applications to the 3rd edition of the Health Innovation Award – All for Sustainability has already begun. Interested parties have until June 30 to present their projects and secure participation in one of the most prestigious health innovation initiatives in Portugal, which this year received the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic, as announced in a press release.

According to the same source, this is the final opportunity for projects in the areas of Social Sustainability, Economic Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, and Digital Transformation to be recognized within the scope of this award. The prize also challenges the new generation of talent, with a cohort dedicated to university students, to present solutions based on evidence, technology, and applied research.

As the deadline approaches, João Eurico da Fonseca, Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), stressed: “This prize is a catalyst for transformation, mobilising the academic, clinical and technological communities to develop solutions that strengthen the sustainability of the health system and that place Portugal at the forefront of innovation.”

Highlighting the strategic importance of technology in transforming the health sector, Ricardo Constantino, Head of Public Sector & Health at NTT DATA Portugal, states: “In an era in which the ‘Data that Transforms Health’ is not merely the year’s theme but a reality that daily shapes the future of healthcare, NTT DATA is proud to be one of the driving forces behind this initiative. We believe that technology and the intelligent use of data are essential pillars for building a more efficient, sustainable, integrated, and citizen-centered health system.”

Believing that true innovation arises from collaboration, Helena Freitas, Chief Executive Officer of Sanofi, underscores: “This prize is proof that, together, we can build a healthier future for everyone.” “Our commitment is to seek innovative solutions that improve people’s lives. The Health Innovation Award is, therefore, a vital platform that enables us to support and give visibility to projects with real transformative potential,” she concluded.

The Health Innovation Award – All for Sustainability is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), Sanofi, and NTT DATA Portugal, which aims to consolidate an active network among academia, clinicians, managers, industry, and civil society.

The winning projects will be unveiled at the awards ceremony on November 18, where the year’s theme — ‘Data that Transform Health’ — will also be debated, considered a key driver for transforming the sector.

Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2026. The regulations, the Frequently Asked Questions, and the winning projects from previous editions can be consulted at www.premioinovacaosaude.pt.
