RioSul Shopping promotes, on the upcoming June 26, the initiative “The River that Connects Us,” an environmental awareness campaign that aims to mobilize the community to preserve Seixal Bay, through a cleanup intervention of the sands at Praia da Trindade (Praia da Velha), according to a press release.
According to the same source, the initiative, which runs from 10:00 to 12:30, invites participants to actively contribute to the protection of this local ecosystem, reinforcing the importance of adopting responsible behaviors in preserving natural resources and reducing the impact of waste on the environment.
The action features the special participation of João Kopke, one of the best-known names in Portuguese surfing and an advocate for causes related to the sea and sustainability. His presence is intended to reinforce the link between the protection of oceans, rivers and coastal areas and the collective responsibility in conserving these spaces.
According to Carla Ferreira, Marketing Manager of RioSul Shopping, “more than a cleaning action, ‘The River that Connects Us’ aims to sensitize the community to the importance of preserving local ecosystems and demonstrate that small individual actions can generate a positive impact when carried out together. We believe that sustainability is built through active participation of people and community involvement.”
João Kopke’s involvement in the action “The River that Connects Us” culminates in the construction of a special surfboard, which represents the debris collected on the sand and with which the surfer will ride one of the waves formed in the Tagus River and generated by the passage of catamarans that connect to Lisbon.
With this initiative, RioSul Shopping “reaffirms its commitment to promoting more sustainable practices and to developing awareness actions that encourage community participation in protecting the local natural heritage. Participation is free and open to the entire community,” the statement concludes.
