The solar eclipse on Wednesday will reduce solar energy production by 45%, REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais estimated today.
In a statement, REN said that the phenomenon “will cause an estimated loss of solar generation of 450 MW, which will represent about 7% of consumption and 45% of the solar production of the National Electrical System expected for this time (average values).”
REN also stated that it has been, in collaboration with other European electricity transmission operators, preparing the National Electrical System (SEN) for the effects of the solar eclipse that will occur in the late afternoon of August 12 (Wednesday).
