The Alentejo 2030 programme has opened a call for proposals to support innovative actions aimed at addressing the demographic challenge in this region, with an indicative allocation of 2.8 million euros, it was announced today.
In a statement, the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development (CCDR) of Alentejo explained that the call notice was published last Thursday, under the Integrated Territorial Instrument (ITI) Water and Landscape Ecosystems.
The call, whose 2.8 million euro budget is co-financed at 85% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), “aims to promote innovative and integrated solutions that contribute to attracting, welcoming and settling the population in the region,” it reads.
According to the CCDR Alentejo, the support is intended for the implementation of the Action Plan approved within the ITI Water and Landscape Ecosystems, prioritizing interventions in the areas of culture, tourism and nature, as engines of sustainable territorial development.
The competition encompasses actions aimed at creating innovative models to combat depopulation or promoting demographic reconversion through the attraction, settlement and integration of the population.
Other actions included are the promotion of social inclusion, employment and access to services in the territories and the strengthening of community participation and the promotion of more inclusive and innovative models of local governance.
Applications, which may be submitted by central government entities, local authorities and non-profit associations, are open until 5 June.
This notice, the CCDR stressed, “represents a strategic opportunity to energize the territory, reinforce social and economic cohesion and contribute to reversing depopulation trends, through innovative solutions tailored to the specificities of the Alentejo.”
