Initiatives by Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) will bring packaging recycling closer to the festival-goers who will attend the 2026 edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa, which takes place on June 20, 21, 27 and 28 at Parque Tejo.
According to the organization, the audience will be encouraged to adopt more responsible behaviors in a festival environment.
This presence stems from the collaboration between Sociedade Ponto Verde and Rock in Rio Lisboa, which ensures SPV the status of Official Sustainability Partner. “It results from a long-standing relationship, built and strengthened over several editions, based on joint work and a clear alignment of values and a shared vision of sustainability that is transversal to the entire event,” the statement says.
For this edition of the festival, SPV will provide a set of actions that continue the awareness-raising work for proper separation and deposition of packaging at recycling points, “a good practice that can be done at any time and anywhere, notably at Rock in Rio Lisboa,” they emphasize.
SPV’s participation in Rock in Rio Lisboa will include a stand with the game “Recycle Rockstar” which, to the rhythm of Rock in Rio’s music, will challenge those passing by to correctly route the packaging to the right recycling point, giving them the chance to win a pair of tickets to Rock in Rio Brasil, with travel included.
To promote this activation, backpacker teams with mobile recycling points will circulate through the venue, they explain, especially in the dining areas and near the recycling points. Festival-goers who correctly recycle their packaging will be rewarded with a digital “token” that grants access to an extra life in the game “Recycle Rockstar.” To use this advantage, it is necessary to download the Ponto Verde app via the QR code on the token, as explained in the press release.
In addition, the Cidade do Rock will feature structures for the proper separation of packaging waste at various points throughout the space, as well as awareness videos shown on the festival screens.
“It is with great satisfaction that we maintain this partnership with Rock in Rio Lisboa, based on a shared commitment to sustainability,” says the CEO of Sociedade Ponto Verde.
For Ana Trigo Morais, “separating packaging is everyone’s responsibility and, since our focus is to promote the recycling of these wastes, it is essential that we be close to citizens to reinforce that this gesture should happen in any context and at any moment.”
The official adds that “the presence at events of the scale of Rock in Rio Lisboa, which gathers thousands of people, precisely allows us to promote packaging recycling, becoming a habit increasingly present in the day-to-day lives of citizens.” And she advances that “the ambition is to transform this act into a collective movement, so that everyone can contribute to meeting the goals to which Portugal is committed.”
Meanwhile, the executive vice-president of Rock in Rio Lisboa highlights that “sustainability is a cross-cutting commitment to all dimensions of the festival and a priority that we seek to make increasingly visible and accessible to those who visit us.”
The partnership with Sociedade Ponto Verde, notes Roberta Medina, “is an excellent example of how we can transform awareness into action,” and she recalls that “together, we have been promoting more conscious habits, both among the public and among all the teams that make the festival happen.”
“In 2024, we managed to correctly direct around 40% of the waste generated during the event to recycling, and our ambition for this edition is to go even further. We want every person who passes through Cidade do Rock to feel part of this mission, contributing to a more sustainable festival and carrying with them more conscious behaviors for daily life,” she declares.
