Montiqueijo Earns Welfair Animal Welfare Certification

September 17, 2026

Montiqueijo has obtained certification with the Welfair Animal Well-Being seal, which recognizes the practices adopted by the company along the production chain, according to a press release.

According to the same source, the milk used in Montiqueijo’s cheeses is produced at Agroleite, the company’s own farm that already holds this certification. With the attribution of the seal to the products, the company now covers the different stages of the process, from the production of the raw material to the final product.

The certification rests on the evaluation of practices related to animal welfare and the management of the production process. According to the company, internal control of the various stages allows monitoring production conditions and ensuring quality and food safety criteria.

“Receiving this certification represents the recognition of the consistent work we carry out daily. Animal welfare is a principle that guides our activity and is part of the way we understand cheese production: with responsibility, rigor, and respect for all stages of the process,” says Sandra Ferreira, Head of Sustainability at Montiqueijo.

The company believes that the certification will reinforce the work it has been developing in the areas of animal welfare and sustainability, integrating these practices into the production process of its cheeses.
