Under the motto “Knowing How to Plant the Future”, the University of Coimbra Botanical Garden (JBUC) continues in 2026/2027 with the environmental awareness project “UC.Plantas”, which is aimed at new students and intends to promote inclusion in the academic community through science. The distribution of plants to new students, who are invited to adopt them during the academic year, will take place next Wednesday, September 23, between 17:00 and 19:30, on Avenida das TÃlias, as announced in a statement.
According to the same source, the Botanical Garden makes available 120 native plants (trees and shrubs) to first-year students interested in taking them home to care for them. During the academic year, in addition to monitoring the plant’s growth, volunteer activities will be organized in the Garden.
First-year students interested in adopting a plant and taking care of it during this academic year should fill out the online form by 1:00 PM on September 23.
