FNAC Portugal announces the arrival of FNAC RESTART to the world of books. The new service allows customers to sell the copies they have already read, giving them a second life in the hands of other readers. After being evaluated, the books acquired under the program will be made available in the marketplace where customers already find used books available for purchase, the company disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, under the premise that buying and selling second-hand books should be simple, the initiative aims to make the entire process easier and more accessible. Until now associated with the take-back and sale of used technology products, FNAC RESTART extends the concept to culture and reinforces the brand’s commitment to the circular economy. The objective remains the same: to prolong the life cycle of products and simplify their passage from one set of hands to another.
“With FNAC RESTART Books we want to make simpler what should already be natural: to keep a book circulating after we finish reading it. By facilitating the purchase and sale of second-hand books, we prolong the life of each copy, promote more circular consumption habits, and create new opportunities for access to reading. Because a book that has already fulfilled its story on a shelf may be only about to begin the next chapter,” says Inês Condeço, Marketing Director of FNAC DARTY Portugal.
To sell used books to FNAC, customers simply need to register on fnac.pt the copies they intend to hand over and, according to market demand, receive a value proposal. In-store, after assessing the books’ condition, they receive the amount on a gift card, which can be used at any FNAC store and on fnac.pt.
With the launch of FNAC RESTART Books, FNAC reinforces its commitment to the circular economy, making the buying and selling of second-hand books simpler, more economical and more sustainable, in line with the commitment undertaken by the brand as part of its pledge to reading.
