Electric Car Demand Surges 149% in Faro in First Five Months of the Year

June 18, 2026

Between January and May 2026, demand for electric vehicles in the Faro district rose by 149% compared with the same period last year, Standvirtual reports.

According to data from the automotive portal, in the same five-month period the supply of electric vehicles increased by 40%, which, according to the company, confirms the Algarve as “a market in strong acceleration in electric mobility.”

For the company, the observed evolution reveals a market with “high commercial traction,” in which consumer interest in electric mobility “grows far above the availability of vehicles.”

And it considers that this makes clear the importance of “digital tools that help professionals respond faster and convert contact inquiries more effectively,” something it intends to promote through its Standvirtual Academies, with the first in the Algarve scheduled for June 19, in Olhão.

“The data from Faro show an accelerating market,” says Miguel Lucas, Head of Go-To-Market Product at Standvirtual, cited in a note.

“The supply of electric vehicles grew by 40%, but inquiries rose by 149%. This differential confirms the Algarve’s potential and reinforces the importance of giving dealers more effective digital and AI tools,” says the executive.
