EDP Foundation Returns to Support Nonprofits in Electric Vehicle Purchases or Leases

October 20, 2026

Applications are open until November 30 for the 3rd edition of the Mobilidade Solidária program, by Fundação EDP, which supports entities in the social sector in purchasing or contracting 100% electric vehicles. The program provides 15,000 euros per application and will support up to 20 applications in Portugal. Applications may be submitted, through the form available on the Fundação EDP’s website, by private social solidarity institutions or legally comparable entities, non-governmental development organizations and non-governmental environmental organizations, all headquartered in Portugal. With support for electric mobility, the foundation aims to reduce the emissions and travel costs of these institutions and strengthen their capacity to reach more people.

This year, the program reinforces the incentive for partnership applications: organizations that share territories, publics or needs can apply jointly and share the same vehicle. In the first two editions, Mobilidade Solidária supported 43 entities, such as the Centro Juvenil de Campanhã, reaching more than 25,000 people and avoiding the emission of 98 tons of CO₂. The supported institutions report gains in home care, in transporting service users to medical appointments and treatments, and in assisting people in situations of isolation, in addition to cost reductions.

“A just energy transition improves the lives of people and communities. With the Mobilidade Solidária Program, we support social organizations in adopting sustainable mobility solutions, which reduce emissions and allow reaching more people,” says Martim Salgado, global head of social impact at EDP and administrator of Fundação EDP. The initiative also takes place in Spain, where support for 20 entities is planned this year.
