CUF obtained an overall rating of “Excellent”, with a score of 8.9 out of 10, in the sustainability rating assigned by the European ESG rating agency EthiFinance, as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, the assessment analyzed the environmental, social and governance dimensions of the organization, considering the policies adopted, the measures implemented and the results achieved. The process encompassed four pillars: governance, the social dimension related to its own workforce, the environment, and the social dimension related to external stakeholders.
It was precisely in the last pillar that CUF achieved the highest rating, with 9 out of 10 points. EthiFinance highlights the organization’s participation in local networks and partnerships with social entities, as well as health literacy and inclusion initiatives, volunteering and support for research. Also considered are patient safety and quality practices.
According to the agency, CUF presents a structured approach to managing the impact on external stakeholders, supported by practices related to human rights, community and society relations, and safety and quality of the care provided. The evaluation also highlights the linkage between governance, stakeholder engagement and transparency in the disclosure of information.
“Integrating sustainability into management means considering, in decisions, its effects on professionals, patients, communities and the resources we use. This evaluation recognizes the work carried out by CUF and helps us identify where we should focus our next efforts. It is an exercise of demand and transparency that continues the social responsibility that lies at the origin of CUF in health,” says Rui Diniz, president of the Executive Committee of CUF.
In the social dimension relating to employees, CUF scored 8.2 points. EthiFinance highlights training and skills development, working conditions, social dialogue, practices promoting diversity and inclusion, and health and safety at work.
Governance was rated at 7.6 points, with the report highlighting corporate conduct processes, digital security and the integration of ESG criteria in the relationship with suppliers.
The environmental pillar obtained 6.6 points, corresponding to the “Advanced” level. Among the aspects valued by EthiFinance are the progress in managing carbon emissions, energy efficiency, waste reduction and resource reuse.
Among the sustainability indicators presented by CUF are an electric or hybrid fleet representing 52% of the total, 510 kWp of installed photovoltaic capacity, and a 20% reduction in energy intensity versus 2022. The organization also indicates a 91% reduction in CO₂ emissions associated with anesthetic gases compared with 2022, based on data from the first half of 2026.
In the social dimension, CUF reports an investment of €860,000, 2,474 hours of corporate volunteering, 4,430 hours of free training in the communities and 22 partnerships with social economy entities. Women represent 58% of people in leadership positions.
EthiFinance’s assessment covers 16 dimensions, through about 150 cross-cutting indicators and sector-specific indicators. The European agency, specialized in financial and sustainability ratings, evaluates more than 3,000 European listed companies.
