Continente Launches ‘CaderNão’ Initiative to Turn Used Notebooks into Trees

August 19, 2026

In this Back-to-School season, Continente once again gives new life to school notebooks through the “Cadernão,” an initiative in partnership with the Oxford brand, combining recycling, circular economy, and reforestation. Until September 20, customers can drop off their used notebooks and paper, from any brand, at the Ecospots in selected Continente stores, contributing to the planting of trees across the national territory, as announced in a press release.

According to the same source, for each tonne collected, 20 trees will be planted, and by September 20, Continente aims to collect 100 tonnes of paper, the equivalent of planting 2,000 trees.

Consumers simply need to deposit school notebooks or used paper at the Ecospots of the selected Continente stores. In cases where stores do not have these spaces, the usual “CaderNão” cart can be found inside the store. Under the project, notebooks and paper from any brand will be accepted, including paper covers, plastic, metal rings, staples, or loose sheets.

Through this initiative, Continente has already helped give a new life to 337 tonnes of paper, committing to plant 6,740 trees. To date, 5,120 trees have been planted, with the remaining 1,620 corresponding to 81 tonnes of paper collected in 2025, planned for the planting action already including the results of this year’s edition. In 2026, the brand aims to strengthen the impact of the action, once again challenging families to start the new school year in a more conscious and sustainable way.

Integrated into the Back-to-School Fair, the “Cadernão” reinforces Continente’s commitment to implementing sustainable measures and to creating a positive footprint for future generations.
