1. Conference on Peer Education, Sexuality, HIV and AIDS 2010, National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE), 16-18 June, 2010 - Nairobi, Kenya

The conference is aimed at promoting the role of peer educators and other stakeholders in scaling up HIV prevention to address emerging issues using evidence-based interventions.

2. Exchange on HIV/AIDS, Sexuality and Gender, Royal Tropical Institute

Exchange is a quarterly magazine on HIV/AIDS, gender and sexual health published in English and Portuguese. The magazine's first issue in 2010 looks at building evidence of good practice on sexuality and counselling and argues HIV cannot be adequately addressed by conventional sexuality or health education alone.

VACANCIES

1. Chief of Party - Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Winrock International - Various

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership on all programmatic activities, including provision of comprehensive services to OVC and vulnerable households and building local capacity
  • Develop and oversee implementation of annual work plans, budgets and reports
  • Coordinate with USAID, implementing partners, other donors and government on OVC programming
  • Manage and mentor senior staff
  • Direct monitoring and evaluation of the programme
  • Serve as technical lead or supervisor on areas including, nutritional support, protection, and psychosocial support

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or higher required, in health or education
  • Demonstrated focus or supplemental training on HIV/AIDS, gender, income generation/entrepreneurship, monitoring and evaluation preferred
  • Minimum ten years experience working on HIV/AIDS sector for donor-funded development programmes; minimum five years experience managing USAID programmes and budgets
  • Strong skills in financial management, writing, monitoring and evaluation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

2. Policy Officer, UNAIDS - Geneva, Switzerland

Responsibilities:

  • Draft clear policies, procedures, standards and tools consistent with United Nations policy and practices to ensure effective general administration and cooperation
  • Evaluate existing business processes, workflows, tools and systems and compare these to other organizations to assess potential improvements
  • Participate in the provision of support to regional and country offices on the improvement of their administration processes and inter-agency relationships
  • Produce reports related to administration issues for management.
  • Monitor the implementation of new and/or revised policies to ensure that performances are on-target according to the relevant internal United Nations systems

Qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree in business or public administration, project management, or related subject
  • Knowledge of UN or related relevant policies
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and MS Office
  • Ability to develop specific service level agreements and to establish a database of policies for easy users' access
  • Ability to analyse and produce comprehensive and readable policies and guidelines in line with UN requirements
  • At least seven years' experience in administration, including the design of business process, workflows, systems and monitoring tools
  • Fluency in English with a good working knowledge of French
