1. Regional expert consultation on scaling up prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and paediatric HIV care and treatment in Eastern and Southern Africa, 21-22 May - Nairobi, Kenya
This expert consultation, convened by the United Nations Children's Fund's Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa in close coordination with UNAIDS and the UN World Health Organisation, will bring together those working within governments, international NGOs, the donor community and the UN to map out a collective response to substantially increase access to these vital services and help countries achieve the ambitious goals they have set for themselves.

2. Global online forum to give teachers a voice on HIV
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, (UNESCO) together with the UNAIDS Inter-Agency Task Team on Education are organising an E-Forum on 'Teachers and HIV & AIDS: Reviewing achievements, identifying challenges' from 18 to 29 May 2009.
The forum will bring together educational planners, policy-makers, representatives of teachers' unions and teaching staff, networks of teachers living with HIV, civil society groups, donors, UNAIDS cosponsors and other multilateral agencies to exchange views and experiences and explore how teachers can capitalise on their influence and expertise to mitigate the effects of an epidemic which is having a profound and negative impact on schools and education systems.

VACANCIES:
1. Project Officer (Migration Health), International Organisation for Migration (IOM) - Tanzania
Responsibilities:
- Undertake research/assessment on HIV and labour migration projects and activities being undertaken in Tanzania, analysing gaps and identifying opportunities for IOM migration health programming
- Identify advocacy for policy development opportunities and, where appropriate, provide technical assistance
- Facilitate development of a Migration Health programme in Tanzania
- Act as the Migration Health Focal Point in Tanzania and assist with implementation of Migration Health activities
- Mainstream HIV within existing IOM programmes and projects
- Liaise with relevant partners to support the development of Migration Health programmes in Tanzania
Requirements:
- University degree, preferably in Social Science, Public Health or International Relations
- At least two years experience working in development issues
- Experience designing and implementing HIV and/or migration projects in Tanzania and/or other countries within Southern African Development Community (SADC) and/or East African Community (EAC)
- A good understanding of the social and economic development environment of Southern and Eastern Africa
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and organisational skills
- Effective resource management skills
- Sound knowledge of programme management/development and familiarity with IOM’s administrative and financial management

2. Programme Officer - HIV, Christian Aid - Sierra Leone
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and support as well as monitoring and evaluation to partner organisations
- Ensure that implementation, monitoring and programme reporting are all carried out in accordance with Christian Aid and donor requirements
- Provide capacity strengthening to partners in peer support and behaviour change methodologies
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level
- Considerable years of programme management experience, including appraisal, monitoring and evaluation
- Experience working with an international NGO in HIV field programmes
- Demonstrable skills and experience in strategic project planning and capacity development
