STCP began, this Thursday, the operation of 30 new 100% electric buses, in a total investment of around 12 million euros, announced in a press release.
According to the same source, of this amount, around 7 million euros were financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, while the remaining 5 million euros were secured by the shareholder municipalities.
The entry into service of these new vehicles ‘represents another step in the renewal and modernization of the STCP fleet and strengthens the supply of sustainable public transport in the cities of Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Matosinhos, Maia, Valongo and Gondomar’.
With the integration of the new buses, the STCP fleet now totals 126 fully electric vehicles, meaning that around 28% of the operation is already covered by emission-free means.
The 30 new vehicles will be stationed at the Via Norte depot and will replace buses that are at the end of their useful life, which will be retired, contributing to the renewal and modernization of the fleet.
Manufactured by Caetano Bus, the new buses are equipped with onboard technologies designed to provide better comfort and safety for passengers and drivers. With a range of around 320 kilometers, the vehicles enable daily operation on different routes and meet the mobility needs of the population.
