Sonae registered 135 million euros in sales of products and services related to the circular economy in the first six months of 2026. The amount represents more than half of the 259 million euros achieved in the entire year of 2025, through initiatives such as reducing food waste, repairing electronic equipment, reusing materials and selling products in refill systems, as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, in 2025, revenues associated with these activities rose 36% compared with 2024, a year in which they stood at 190 million euros. Compared with 2023, when they reached 93 million euros, the growth was 178%.
The initiatives are distributed across several group companies. MC develops projects linked to reducing food waste and refill, while Worten and iServices work on the repair and refurbishment of electronic equipment. BCF Life Sciences, integrated in Sparkfood, dedicates itself to the valorization of by-products and the recovery of raw materials.
For Martim Santos, Sustainability Director of Sonae, “circularity is an opportunity to rethink how we use resources, how we develop products and create value. At Sonae, we seek to integrate these principles across the different businesses, promoting solutions that reduce waste, extend the life of products and materials and encourage their reuse and valorization. It is a path that requires innovation, collaboration along the value chain and changes in production and consumption models, but which can bring environmental benefits while simultaneously strengthening the efficiency and competitiveness of our businesses.”
In the first half of 2026, the group’s companies also invested more than 1.4 million euros in initiatives aimed at encouraging consumers to make more sustainable choices.
