Resialentejo launched a promotional campaign for CompostoAlentejo, the organic soil amendment produced at the Montinho Environmental Park in Beja, derived from the valorization of the region’s urban waste, according to a press release.
According to the same source, the product results from the organic fraction of urban waste collected in the municipalities served by Resialentejo, about 95%, with the addition of up to 5% of green garden waste, through a controlled composting process. It is a matured compost, Grade IV, stable and safe, already successfully used by dozens of farmers and producers in the region.
CompostoAlentejo improves the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil, increasing its suppressiveness and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers. The nitrogen present in the compost is mainly in organic form, which allows for a slow release to the soil and better uptake by crops. Rich in organic matter, with more than 40% in its composition, and in macronutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, the product also improves water retention in soils. It is indicated for orchards, olive groves, vineyards and forestry species.
CompostoAlentejo is classified as Organic Compost Class IIA, Group 5 of Organic Amendments, with a germination rate exceeding 93%. It is marketed in bulk, in powder form, and collection is carried out at Resialentejo’s facilities, at Herdade do Montinho, Beja, with transportation at the customer’s expense.
With this campaign, Resialentejo reinforces the invitation to farmers and producers in the region to get to know and use CompostoAlentejo, providing a new destination for the organic waste produced in the municipalities within Resialentejo’s area of operation and contributing to soils that are more fertile and drought-resistant.
