This wild cat breed, also known as the Manul, is quite peculiar and charismatic. It is a wild cat breed with many similarities to domestic cats. They are small in size, approximately between 50 and 63 cm in length, with an average weight of 4.5 kg.
Its coat is extremely dense and long, but the tail of these small felines is short. Another peculiarity of the cats of this breed is the rounded face, short ears, and the absence of premolar teeth in the upper jaw.
Their predominant color is light gray, but there are specimens in brown tones, depending on the subspecies. The fur, as a rule, has a darker base and lighter tips, with black stripes on the back and the snout, as well as black spots on the head.
Speed is not the strong suit of these cats due to their short legs, so their diet is essentially composed of birds and small rodents that are hunted through ambushes.
Until the 1980s this cat breed was hunted by humans to be sold as pets or because of its exotic skin. Today it is illegal to hunt these animals but illegal trade continues, and it is estimated that in 20 years the species will be classified as endangered.
