Moeve is launching a pioneering project of collective self-consumption through its network of gas stations, becoming the first energy company in Portugal to use this infrastructure to produce, consume and share renewable energy with local communities, according to a press release.
According to the same source, developed in partnership with Greenvolt Communities, the project provides that 36 Moeve directly managed stations, equipped with photovoltaic production, will begin to produce and share renewable energy with the communities where they are located, taking, in most cases, on the role of founding entities of the respective Energy Communities.
Currently, 11 stations are part of eight active Energy Communities, enabling an estimated sharing of 88 MWh of renewable energy per year and benefiting approximately 110 families, who begin to consume clean and cheaper energy.
As the project advances, 25 more stations will be integrated, distributed across 19 new Energy Communities. When fully implemented, the project will allow an estimated sharing of about 330 MWh of renewable energy per year, sufficient to benefit approximately 400 families with clean and cheaper energy.
With this project, Moeve contributes to a model in which locally generated energy also benefits the territory where it is produced, strengthening the proximity between energy infrastructure and the community, and democratizing access to renewable energy.

The project represents another step in the implementation of the Positive Motion strategy, through which Moeve is accelerating the energy transition and turning its network of stations into true multienergy hubs.
In addition to the 36 producing stations, another 29 stations will consume locally produced renewable energy, strengthening the use of clean energy across the network.
The bet on Energy Communities complements the investments the company has been making in expanding the ultrafast electric charging network, developing biofuels, producing green hydrogen and digitizing the customer experience.
