Guimarães gears up to host the 14th edition of the National Meeting of Electric Vehicles (ENVE), on September 19 and 20, at the Multiusos. The event will transform the city into the heart of clean energy and electric mobility, in two days full of innovation, experiences and news, as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, ENVE will gather users, manufacturers, charging operators, technology companies and specialists linked to electric mobility and the energy transition. The initiative takes place during the European Mobility Week, which Guimarães promotes from September 16 to 22.
The program of the meeting will allow the public to know vehicles, equipment and mobility solutions, participate in experiences and test-drives and follow discussions about the future of the sector, in addition to Q&A sessions, raffles and much more.
Entrance is free and open to the entire community. Registration is, however, recommended for visitors who intend to travel to ENVE in a 100% electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, in order to facilitate entry to the parking, charging area and the delivery of the official visitor kit.
Pedro Faria, president of the Governing Council of UVE, states: “This year, the choice of the location for the National Meeting of Electric Vehicles could not be otherwise. In 2026, Guimarães is European Green Capital, a recognition that reflects its commitment to sustainability, the energy transition, innovation and the future. This collaboration is fundamental to continue to bring electric mobility closer to everyone and in all regions of the country”.
“For both those who already drive an electric vehicle and those who still have doubts, ENVE is an open space to learn, experience, talk and better understand how electric mobility works in practice, without myths or complications,” he concludes.
Associated programming includes an autonomy challenge and Formula Student
The associated programming begins even before the meeting. On September 17, there will be an autonomy challenge for electric vehicles, linking Guimarães Castle to Sagres Point and returning to the cradle city on the same day. The route will cover about 1,300 kilometres and will involve 12 electric vehicles from different brands.
On September 18, about 100 students and mentors from the 14 national Formula Student teams will gather in Guimarães to prepare the 2027 season. Universities and higher education institutions from across the country will be represented, including the new teams from Instituto Politécnico de Viseu and the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. Some of the vehicles developed in the 2025 and 2026 seasons will be on display. On Sunday, the 20th, around 1:00 PM, there is also planned a dynamic demonstration of some of the Formula Student teams’ cars.
The National Meeting of Electric Vehicles, which is part of the Guimarães 26 – European Green Capital program, is promoted by UVE – Association of Electric Vehicle Users, with the support of the Municipality of Guimarães.
