The Minister of the Environment clarified today, in Ericeira, that the cyberattack on several companies of the Águas de Portugal group from a week ago did not affect water supply in the country.
“The attack remained contained to the administrative part and did not reach any public water supply system,” she told journalists Maria da Graça Carvalho.
The cyberattack, she confirmed, occurred last Friday and affected several companies of the Águas de Portugal group, which contacted the Judicial Police and other entities linked to cybersecurity.
“By the time it was known, it was already practically resolved, at least in terms of everything being contained, and that only the administrative part had been affected,” the minister said.
The attack was directed at the group’s information systems, causing temporary constraints in administrative processes and in the channels of contact with customers and partners in some companies.
