The Audi A6 e-tron was elected ACP Electric Vehicle of the Year 2026, in the 4th edition of the competition promoted by the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP). The awards ceremony took place today at the ACP headquarters in Lisbon, according to a press release.
According to the same source, dedicated exclusively to 100% electric vehicles, the competition distinguishes, through public voting, the Portuguese people’s preferred models in four categories. In addition to winning the title of Electric Vehicle of the Year, the Audi A6 e-tron also won the Premium category.
In the remaining categories, the Mercedes-Benz CLA was distinguished in Family Cars, the Citroën ë-C3 in City Cars/Utility Vehicles, and the Jeep Compass in SUV/Crossover.
“Electric mobility is no longer a promise for the future, it is a reality in the market and in the choices of the Portuguese. And that is precisely what this prize seeks to show: it is not us, nor a panel of experts, who decide which is the best electric vehicle; it is the consumers themselves. After four editions, we also see a much more diversified market, with proposals for different needs and segments. And the transformation is not happening only in cars: there is an industry, technology and knowledge evolving with them, including a lot of work done in Portugal that deserves to be recognized,” says Carlos Barbosa, president of the Automobile Club of Portugal.
In this edition, the ACP also awarded six special prizes, recognizing companies, models and projects in different areas of the automotive sector and mobility:
- Mobility – CEiiA | BEN: electric microcar developed by CEiiA and homologated in the European Union;
- Innovation – Bosch Car Multimedia | Radar technology: developed at the Braga site, with application in road safety;
- Industry – Continental Mabor: plant in Vila Nova de Famalicão, with daily production exceeding 50,000 radial tires;
- Design – Renault Twingo: for the reinterpretation of the original model for electric mobility;
- Advertising – Peugeot | “The Lion Has Arrived!”: launch campaign for the new Peugeot 308 SW;
- Sports Model – MG Cyberster: 100% electric two-seater roadster.
The set of prizes awarded in this edition seeks to reflect different dimensions of the automotive sector, from vehicles and consumer experience to engineering, industrial production, technology, design and communications.
The final prize of the competition is a Škoda Elroq Sportline, drawn among all participants who voted for the most voted car of 2026 and who voted in all four categories. Alexandre Santos was the grand winner and took home the Škoda Elroq Sportline.
