The Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) launched a new edition of the funding program for communication, awareness and education actions for Integrated Urban Waste Management Systems (SGRU), Municipalities and Municipal Companies, now designated “Rede Recicla+,” as disclosed in a press release.
According to the same source, in addition to promoting the proper functioning of the Integrated System for Packaging Waste Management (SIGRE), this initiative aims to foster collaborative work, ensuring cooperation and implementation of local communication and awareness actions in partnership with these entities. Applications can be submitted until May 1 of the coming year. More information here.
For this edition, SPV makes available a total of €700,000 to finance the actions, up to a maximum of €50,000 per application. The focus remains on initiatives that promote the selective collection of glass packaging, notably in the HORECA channel. Glass is the material that needs to significantly increase its participation in the packaging recycling process, contributing to the country reaching the current recycling target — 65% of packaging placed on the market recycled.
The “Rede Recicla+” program, the new designation of “Juntos a Reciclar++,” has, in recent years, seen a significant growth in the number of actions implemented by SGRU, Municipalities and Municipal Companies with SPV funding: between 2024 and 2025, the volume of supported applications grew by 50%.
SPV reinforces, through this program, its role with partners. This collaboration, which prioritizes consistent communication and the alignment of messages, enables close work with local communities, implementing actions that yield measurable results and that are suited to the specific characteristics of each territory.
The transition to the new brand, “Rede Recicla+,” aligns with SPV’s recent rebranding and positioning. It reflects a culture of greater proximity, the consolidation of a collaborative network where all stakeholders work toward a common purpose. A change grounded in unity and the belief that future success lies in the ability to collaborate and grow in a network.
“This program is among the most strategic for SPV and, therefore, now under the designation “Rede Recicla+,” we will continue to work, in close proximity, with the SGRU and the Municipalities. We want to support them in implementing their actions, with the very concrete objective of accelerating the recycling of glass packaging together. It is essential that we are on the ground, with citizens and with specific sectors such as the HORECA channel, raising awareness and encouraging greater participation in this process because only with everyone can the country reach the targets for packaging recycling,” says Ana Trigo Morais, CEO of Sociedade Ponto Verde.
The failure to meet recycling targets in 2025 underscores the urgency of implementing this type of program. Even with a historic investment of €212 million, €90 million more than in 2024, Portugal registered a recovery rate of 60.2%, falling short of the 65% target for selective collection of packaging. It is clear that the current model is not enough, and that it is essential to continue investing in solutions that contribute to achieving these goals.
